How to calculate Shopify break-even orders

Learn how to calculate how many Shopify orders are needed to cover monthly store costs.

Shopify break-even orders tell you how many orders are needed before the store covers monthly fixed costs.

The formula is:

Break-even orders = monthly fixed costs / contribution per order

Contribution per order = selling price - variable cost - platform and payment fees

For example, if fixed costs are $389 and contribution per order is $25.30, the store needs about 16 orders to break even.
